Hi all,
My car has a Direction Plus Provent PL150 fuel pre filter setup and I need to replace the filter.
After having replaced the filter what is the best way to prime the fuel pump?
As the car normally self primes, just turn key to ON but not start car, leave for 45 secs, turn OFF and repeat a few times.
Or is there a different method required?
Thanks,
Chris.

I get a 1 or 2 Lt plastic container under the bonnet and put the fuel line in there then turn on ignition until the filter fills.
I then connect the line and turn on ignition until it stops pumping fuel.
Ignition off then on again and if there is no pumping I start the car and hold around 2000/2500 rpm for 20 secs
It may need 1 or 2 ignition on/off cycles to stop pumping.
Never had any issues doing it that way

Just prime with the key. It'll work fine. Repeat the process 2-3 times on the key and it'll fire straight up

I have a Fuel-Master 35 micron pre-filter and I do the the same with the OE Ford filter, I have a 2 litre bottle of clean diesel in my man cave and with a tiny funnel I simply fill the filter up with clean fuel before I re-install it.
Now, if anyone can tell me how to avoid the two wires to the water alarm loom connector from breaking I'd like to hear it. I've had to micro-solder / repair mine twice to avoid having to fork out $285 for a new plastic OE filter can.
