This is the second prototype mount I have done.
It is plug and play. Clip on and no marks left, tight fit and no moment.
The end product would be black.
There may be less material as the current amount is probably over kill.
This is the location I have always had my UG and I find it to be the perfect position.
Thoughts? Is anyone interested. Depending on qty's will be whether I 3d print them all or move to plastic injection.

Stewart,
Did you try an original “horizontal” base placed beyond the RH vent? Too hot in the sun?
This prototype, is it meant to go with Velcro?
Cheers

Hi Stewart,
I have the Brodit Proclip in the centre to hold my tablet which I use for OziExplorer and it works great. Even though I don't (yet?) have an UG I'd still be interested in one, even if only to hold my phone.
Good work mate.
Gerry

I have done another prototype. This one does not have the angled section on the front as is just flat.
I found with the angled section that everything sat out too far and was annoying. I need to do another one with it moved to the right 10mm then it should be good to go to suit a UG.
I can still do the one as per pic if requested or I can flip it vertically to suit a mobile phone.
These do take about 3 hours to print out but I would not do injection moulding for the qty involved.
Final product would be printed in black ABS. Will give some more pic updates next week.

Now that it it is flat do you think it would fit on the passenger side as well?

No, as it is only the fascia that is flat. But I could print a mirror of it and then it should fit. Will also add it to the list of things to print and test.

Interested in one angled and one flat.
Cheers Michael

I'm doing some of each to test properly.
I need to do a test run in ABS as the current prototype material is bending with the heat of the heater, I'm only trialing with cheaper material as it is cheaper
.
Nothing else can be printed until the 3rd week in July so the ABS trials will have to wait until then.
Hopefully everyone can be patient.

Sorry for the delay.
I have done another in abs plastic. Heat from the vent has not been an issue so far so am waiting a bit longer as the heat coming through the windscreen will be the biggest factor. I'm not quiet at the stage where I want to say it final without testing fully. I'm sure we will get some sun soon and if it's an issue then I will need to change the design a little.

Hi Steve, I happened to have printed a black ABS one out today to replace my ugly green one.
Stuck between a rock and something else at the moment. I want to make sure it does not change shape with the heat through the windscreen. Unfortunately the weather has not showed but on the 24 degree day the other day with windows up and car sitting closed for 5 hours the it didn't budge.
I have to decide whether to risk it and if it does bend then unhappy people or if I wait for some heat and if it bends then move it across to making some silicon moulds and inject the ABS in.
I have some other brand name holders and I find they change shape in the hot weather unfortunately.

I'm actually looking for one that fits on the RHS of the steering wheel suitable for an Ultragauge. I think you have one in your's Stewart, but have not been able to source one myself. I don't suppose these are on your proposed list if it all falls into place for you?

Thanks Stewart,
I am happy either way. Have one now and take the risk or wait depending on which way the rock moves.

If they're not expensive - ie under $20 then I will take the risk.
